Broken

I know that we’re not all broken by the same things. We couldn’t possible be - we can’t all do or be involved in everything. As Christ followers, our basic passion to see the lost saved, to see blind eyes opened, to see people redeemed and God worshipped is given to us through many different means. I have friends who feed the hungry, friends who build hospitals in Africa and, I know people who help to rescue those trapped in human slavery.  I have friends who are really, really good at loving their actual next door neighbours.  Some who are so broken for a certain demographic in their church or in their workplace.  Friends who foster and adopt and love people in our own communities who need to be loved.  I am so encouraged at the body of Christ in action this way, being the hands and feet of Jesus all over the globe.  Of course, we all need to recognize these needs, pray for them, support them, encourage one another...  but we're not all called to respond to each of these things in the same way.

God is growing my passion for the local church into a love and a passion for the unreached people groups in Papua New Guinea who desperately need Jesus and His church. Regardless of how He has opened your eyes to love and to see how He sees, may God give us all eyes to see this broken, sinful world. Hurting, lost souls in every walk of life who are desperate to know the deep, deep love of Jesus - come to set His people free.

What we're up to.

It's time for an update.  I have to admit, I'm a bit boggled with the whole blog thing.  So many things to say, but not really much time to actually sit down and articulate well.

How are we doing?  We're busy!  You might wonder with what.  Turns out that planning to move overseas makes a lot of work!  Let's see...
  • getting our house and property ready to rent  - know anyone looking for a place in Port Sydney?
  • planning and purchasing homeschooling curriculum to cover the next two years at least
  • purging and getting ready to pack up the house
  • making lists of clothes that the kids will need and buying them - what size will they be in two years from now?!
  • planning to outfit a home in a tropical climate (sheets, dishes, kitchen ware, etc)
  • getting paperwork all in order to leave and to be allowed to work in PNG
  • .... the list could go on!
And still enjoying life here - work, family, church.

So... we're still planning and preparing.  Taking one step at a time and the Lord continues to open doors in the direction of our return to PNG.

We had the best sugarbush all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausages today.  Yum!!  And our snow is almost gone!!

Oh - and Jay was recently contacted and interviewed for an article by our local newspaper.  Check it out here!

So... what's up with you?

Isaiah 49:6

Ages ago, when we really began to consider God’s call on our family to move to PNG to accelerate getting the gospel of Jesus to unreached people groups with Friends In Action, God impressed upon our hearts this scripture.  Isaiah 49:6.  As we pondered it, we began to understand how it is a reflection of the desire we have for God to work out in us and through us HIS salvation for all the nations.

It was with tears this week that I listened to this message online and realized that one of my favourite preachers (we’re allowed to have favourite preachers, right?!) was expounding this VERY verse and passage as the Lord had led their church to it.  An incredible encouragement to our hearts, as Jay and I listened again later that day, as we felt the Holy Spirit resonate within us the truth that was preached and the vision and mission given locally and globally to believers everywhere.

Missions exists because worship does not.  (John Piper)

What a blessing it is to us that God has chosen to work through you and me to His glory, yes?!

Sharing this link.  Perhaps you might be encouraged as we were.  Listen here.  Sermon from March 29/29, 2015  "Why We're Here and Where We're Going",  James Macdonald,  Harvest Bible Chapel
